General Hazel Johnson-Brown, First African American Woman General
On or about March 13, 2013, The General Hazel Johnson-Brown Chapter of NABVETS was created. Hazel Johnson-Brown made military history when she became the first African-American woman General in the U.S. Army in 1979. Gen. Johnson-Brown passed away in 2011. May she rest in peace and know that her efforts are NOT forgotten!
The original founding members are as follows:
Veterans: Eve Purvis-Allen , Robert Allen, Benard Foston, Dr. Robert Hollis, Mario Martin, Vivian Cario and Robert Bell. auxiliary Members: Rhoyal Foston, Heaven Foston and dependents of veterans.
With the help and support of State Commander Mondy and State Communications Director, Commander Harris, The Hazel Johnson-Brown Chapter came into inception.
